• Scattering theory of higher order topological phases

  The surface states of intrinsic higher order topological phases are protected by the spatial symmetries of a finite sample. This property makes the existing scattering theory of topological invariants inapplicable: the scattering geometry is either incompatible with the symmetry or does not probe the bulk topology. We resolve this obstacle by using a symmetric scattering geometry that probes transport from the inside to the outside of the sample. We demonstrate that the intrinsic higher order topology is captured by the flux dependence of the reflection matrix. Our finding follows from identifying the spectral flow of a flux line as a signature of higher order topology. We show how this scattering approach applies to several examples of higher order topological insulators and superconductors. Our theory provides an alternative approach for proving bulk-edge correspondence in intrinsic higher order topological phases, especially in the presence of disorder.

• The $D_{03}(2380)$ dibaryon resonance excitation in the $pd\to pd\pi\pi$ reaction.

  The recent ANKE@COSY data on the differential cross section of reaction $pd \to pd\pi\pi$ demonstrate a peak at invariant mass of the final $d\pi\pi$ system $2.38~GeV$, that corresponds to the isocalar $J^P = 3^+$ dibaryon $D_{03}$, and also enhancement in the distribution over the invariant mass of two final pions. The two-resonance model involving the $t$-channel $\sigma$-meson exchange between the proton and deuteron in the subprocess $pd\to pD_{03}$ and the sequential decays $D_{03}\to D_{12}+\pi$ and $D_{12}\to d +\pi$ was applied to describe the shapes of these distributions with the lowest orbital angular momenta in the corresponding vertices. A possible role of higher orbital momenta in those vertices is studied here.

• Correlations among 3N observables

  We use a correlation matrix of two-nucleon (2N) potential parameters to investigate correlations among three-nucleon (3N) observables for the elastic nucleon-deuteron (Nd) scattering process. We employ the up-to-date 2N semilocal momentum-space regularized chiral interactions and the phenomenological OPE-Gaussian potential and using the Faddeev formalism we calculate 3N observables and their correlations. As an example, we present the correlation between the differential cross section and the deuteron analyzing power T20.

  To deepen our understanding of Quantum Gravity and its connections with black holes and cosmology, building a common language and exchanging ideas across different approaches is crucial. The Nordita Program "Quantum Gravity: from gravitational effective field theories to ultraviolet complete approaches" created a platform for extensive discussions, aimed at pinpointing both common grounds and sources of disagreements, with the hope of generating ideas and driving progress in the field. This contribution summarizes the twelve topical discussions held during the program and collects individual thoughts of speakers and panelists on the future of the field in light of these discussions.

• Impact of LHC dijet production in pp and pPb collisions on the nNNPDF2.0 nuclear PDFs

  We quantify the impact of LHC dijet production measurements on the nNNPDF2.0 nuclear PDFs in twofold. First, from a proton baseline based on NNPDF3.1 and augmented by pp dijet production measurements from ATLAS and CMS at 7 and 8 TeV. Second, from a new nNNPDF2.0 global analysis including the ratio of pPb to pp dijet spectra from CMS at 5 TeV. We show that as opposed to the CMS at 5 TeV absolute pp and pPb dijet spectra, the pPb/pp ratio is well described in a nPDFs fit and provides strong constraints on the gluon of lead.

  Simulations of neutrino interactions are playing an increasingly important role in the pursuit of high-priority measurements for the field of particle physics. A significant technical barrier for efficient development of these simulations is the lack of a standard data format for representing individual neutrino scattering events. We propose and define such a universal format, named NuHepMC, as a common standard for the output of neutrino event generators. The NuHepMC format uses data structures and concepts from the HepMC3 event record library adopted by other subfields of high-energy physics. These are supplemented with an original set of conventions for generically representing neutrino interaction physics within the HepMC3 infrastructure.

• Twisted gauging and topological sectors in (2+1)d Abelian lattice gauge theories

  Given a two-dimensional quantum lattice model with an Abelian gauge theory interpretation, we investigate a duality operation that amounts to gauging its invertible 1-form symmetry, followed by gauging the resulting 0-form symmetry in a twisted way via a choice of discrete torsion. Using tensor networks, we introduce explicit lattice realisations of the so-called condensation defects, which are obtained by gauging the 1-form symmetry along submanifolds of spacetime, and employ the same calculus to realise the duality operators. By leveraging these tensor network operators, we compute the non-trivial interplay between symmetry-twisted boundary conditions and charge sectors under the duality operation, enabling us to construct isometries relating the dual Hamiltonians. Whenever a lattice gauge theory is left invariant under the duality operation, we explore the possibility of promoting the self-duality to an internal symmetry. We argue that this results in a symmetry structure that encodes the 2-representations of a 2-group.

  The alpha-alpha bremsstrahlung is studied using the generalization of the Siegert theorem. The corresponding amplitude is written in the gauge invariant form. Special attention is paid to taking into account the Coulomb interaction. Some correlation function is found and its dependence on the strong interaction is discussed.

• Lattice random walks and quantum A-period conjecture

  We derive explicit closed-form expressions for the generating function $C_N(A)$, which enumerates classical closed random walks on square and triangular lattices with $N$ steps and a signed area $A$, characterized by the number of moves in each hopping direction. This enumeration problem is mapped to the trace of powers of anisotropic Hofstadter-like Hamiltonian and is connected to the cluster coefficients of exclusion particles: Exclusion strength parameter $g = 2$ for square lattice walks, and a mixture of $g = 1$ and $g = 2$ for triangular lattice walks. By leveraging the intrinsic link between the Hofstadter model and high energy physics, we propose a conjecture connecting the above signed area enumeration $C_N(A)$ in statistical mechanics to the quantum A-period of associated toric Calabi–Yau threefold in topological string theory: Square lattice walks correspond to local $\mathbb{F}_0$ geometry, while triangular lattice walks are associated with local $\mathcal{B}_3$.
