• Measurements of $t\overline{t}$ production cross-sections with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC

  Comprehensive measurements of differential cross-sections of top-quark-antiquark pair-production are presented. They are performed in the dilepton, lepton+jets and the all-hadronic channels, using $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV data from the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Several setups of next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order generators are quantitatively compared to the measurements. In addition, total cross-section measurements using up to the full ATLAS Run 2 dataset are presented.

• Hadron Production in terms of Green's Functions in Non-Equilibrium Matter

  Following the quark-hadron duality concept, we show that the number of hadrons generated in the deconfinement matter is entirely determined by the exact non-equilibrium Green's functions of partons in the medium and the vertex function governing the probability of the confinement-deconfinement phase transition. In such an approach, compactifying the standard (3+1) chromodynamics into $ QCD_{xy} + QCD_{zt}$, the rate of the hadrons produced in particle collisions is derived in the explicit form provided that the hadronization is the first order phase transition. The pion production is found to be in good agreement to the experimental results on the pion yield in pp collisions.

• Phase transitions in quantum dot-Majorana zero mode coupling systems

  The magnetic doublet ground state (GS) of a quantum dot (QD) could be changed to a spin-singlet GS by coupling to a superconductor. In analogy, here we study the GS phase transitions in QD-Majorana zero mode (MZM) coupling systems: GS behaves phase transition versus intra-dot energy level and QD-MZM coupling strength. The phase diagrams of GS are obtained, for cases with and without Zeeman term. Along with the phase transition, we also study the change of spin feature and density of states. The properties of the phase transition are understood via a mean-field picture. Our study not only serves as an analogue to QD-superconductor phase transitions, but also gives alternative explanations on MZM-relevant experiments.

• The role of the underlying event in the charm-baryon enhancement observed in pp collisions at LHC energies

  We study the enhanced production of $\Lambda_c$ charmed baryons relative to that of charmed $D^0$ mesons in proton–proton collisions at LHC energies. We simulated collision events with the enhanced color-reconnection model in PYTHIA 8 MC generator and propose measurements based on the comparative use of different event-activity classifiers to identify the source of the charmed-baryon enhancement. We demonstrate that in this enhanced color-reconnection scenario the excess production is primarily linked to the underlying event and not to the production of high-momentum jets.

• Latest ALICE results on J/$ψ$ photoproduction in ultra-peripheral collisions at the LHC

  Ultra-peripheral collisions (UPCs), studied using the ALICE detector, allow us to investigate the low-$x$ behavior of the gluon distribution of the colliding particles. Two new measurements of coherent J/$\psi$ photoproduction cross section from Pb-Pb UPCs at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV are presented: the first measurement of the $|t|$-dependence of the cross section providing a new tool to investigate the transverse gluonic structure at low Bjorken-$x$ and a rapidity-differential measurement at midrapidity allowing us to provide stringent constraints on nuclear gluon shadowing and saturation models. In addition, prospects for heavy vector meson photoproduction measurements in LHC Run 3 and 4 are presented.

• Three-loop soft anomalous dimensions for top-quark processes

  I present results for soft anomalous dimensions through three loops for several processes involving the production of top quarks. In particular, I discuss single-top and top-pair production. I also present some numerical results for double-differential distributions in $t{\bar t}$ production through approximate N$^3$LO.

• $\Lambda$ Polarizing Fragmentation Function from Belle $e^+ e^-$ data

  Experimental data from Belle Collaboration for the transverse polarization of $\Lambda$'s measured in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation processes are used to extract the polarizing fragmentation function (FF) within a TMD approach. We consider both associated and inclusive $\Lambda$ production, showing a quite consistent scenario. Good separation in flavor is obtained, leading to four independent FFs. Predictions for SIDIS processes at the EIC, crucial for understanding their universality and evolution properties, are also presented.

• Experimental input from $e^+e^-$ for $a_{\mu}$ light-by-light

  The anomalous magnetic momentum of the muon, $a_{\mu}$, has been measured and calculated with a precision up to $~0.5$ ppm, but there is a 3 to 4 standard deviations between these two values. The uncertainty in the calculation is dominated by the hadronic part, including the hadronic vacuum polarization and the hadronic light-by-light. The meson transition form factors and the helicity amplitudes can be used as input or constraint to the calculation of the hadronic light-by-light contribution. Latest experimental studies of the transition form factors of $\pi^0$, $\eta$, and $\eta^{*}$ and the cross-section of $\gamma\gamma^*\to\pi^+\pi-$from $e^+e^-$ collider are presented.

  Frank W. J. Hekking performed his PhD work on "Aspects of Electron Transport in Semiconductor Nanostructures" at the TU Delft in 1992. He then worked as a postdoc at the University of Karlsruhe, the University of Minnesota, the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, and the Ruhr University at Bochum. In 1999 he joined the LPMMC (Laboratoire de Physique et Mod\' elisation des Milieux Condens\' es) in Grenoble and was appointed Professor at the Universit\' e Joseph Fourier and afterwards Universit\' e Grenoble Alpes. Frank Hekking was nominated as a member of the Institut Universitaire de France, for the periods 2002-2007 and 2012-2017. This review provides an overview of his scientific contributions to several fields of mesoscopic electron transport and superconductivity as well as atomic gases, and is organized along sections describing the different themes.
