SciPost was recently at a crossroads.

Thanks to the commitment of a number of supporting organizations, our initiative is again standing on firmer ground, at least for now.

We are extremely grateful to all of you who have written to us with support in various forms. You have reinvigorated our commitment to our Genuine Open Access principles.

We think recent events demonstrate that the Open Access movement, in its current form, is not fulfilling its promise, and that a bolder vision is required.

There is an editorial battle to be had, to empower responsible researchers to reclaim control over academic publishing in all fields. There is a financial war to be fought, to deprecate wastage and overspending and, instead, use institutional funds to sustain affordable alternatives.

We believe our achievements of the last decade provide a template which can be generalized to benefit a wider set of communities.

We are broadening our mission.

Given that

• SciPost's Genuine Open Access operations have gone beyond the "proof of concept" stage


• its Physics activities offer a template which can be adapted to other fields


• its business model has demonstrated its cost-slashing capability


• its infrastructure can support community-based publishing at different levels

we are launching our Doubling Down on Diamond plan

• to transform SciPost into a large-scale, multi-field, multi-level community-led open access publishing infrastructure


• to ensure its sustainability by promoting understanding of and support for its PubFracs business model.

We have published a roadmap describing our vision for the future of our infrastructure. Through this living document, we will keep you updated on all that we are, will be, and would like to be (if supported) doing.
