• A spectator-model way to transverse-momentum-dependent gluon distribution functions

  We present exploratory analyses of the 3D gluon content of the proton via a study of unpolarized and polarized gluon TMDs at twist-2, calculated in a spectator model for the parent nucleon. Our approach embodies a flexible parametrization for the spectator-mass function, suited to describe both moderate and small-$x$ effects. All these studies can serve as a useful guidance in the investigation of the gluon dynamics inside nucleons and nuclei, which constitutes one of the major goals of new-generation colliding machines, as the EIC, the HL-LHC, NICA, and the FPF.

• Exclusive emissions of rho-mesons and the unintegrated gluon distribution

  Exclusive emissions of vector mesons in forward directions of rapidity offer us a faultless chance to probe the proton structure at small-$x$. A high-energy factorization formula is established within BFKL, given as the convolution of an impact factor depicting the forward-meson emission and of an unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD) driving the gluon evolution at small-$x$. As a nonperturbative quantity, the UGD is not well known and several models for it exist. We present recent progresses on the study of the exclusive forward $\rho$-meson leptoproduction at HERA and EIC energies, showing how osbervables sensitive to different polarization states of the $\rho$-particle act as discriminators for the existing UGD models.

• NNLO constraints on proton PDFs from the SeaQuest and STAR experiments and other developments in the CTEQ-TEA global analysis

  We review progress in the global QCD analysis by the CTEQ-TEA group since the publication of CT18 parton distribution functions (PDFs) in the proton. Specifically, we discuss comparisons of CT18 NNLO predictions with the LHC 13 TeV measurements as well as with the FNAL SeaQuest and BNL STAR data on lepton pair production. The specialized CT18X PDFs approximating saturation effects are compared with the CT18sx PDFs obtained using NLL/NLO small-x resummation. Short summaries are presented for the special CT18 parton distributions with fitted charm and with lattice QCD inputs. A recent comparative analysis of the impact of deuteron nuclear effects on the parton distributions by the CTEQ-JLab and CTEQ-TEA groups is summarized.

• Jets in Evolving Matter within the Opacity Expansion Approach

  In a recent study [1] we have extended the opacity expansion approach to describe jet-medium interactions including medium motion effects in the context of heavy-ion collisions. We have computed color field of the in-medium sources, including the effects of the transverse field components and the energy transfer between the medium and jet. The corresponding contributions are sub-eikonal in nature, and were previously ignored in the literature. Here we discuss how our approach can be applied to describe the medium motion effects in the context of Deep Inelastic Scattering.

• PDF4LHC21: Update on the benchmarking of the CT, MSHT and NNPDF global PDF fits

  There have been recent updates to the three global PDF fits (CT, MSHT and NNPDF), all adding large amounts of data from the LHC, and this has resulted in significant changes to the global PDFs. Given the impact that the new PDFs will have on physics comparisons at the LHC, it is crucial to perform a benchmarking among the PDFs, similar in spirit to that which was carried out for PDF4LHC15, widely used for LHC physics. In this article we detail a benchmarking comparison of three global PDF sets - CT18, MSHT20 and NNPDF3.1 - and their similarities and differences that have been observed. The end result of this study will be a new PDF4LHC21 ensemble of combined PDFs suitable for a wide range of LHC applications.

• QCD factorization for hadronic quarkonium production at high $p_T$

  Heavy quarkonium production at high transverse momentum ($p_T$) in hadronic collisions is explored in the QCD factorization approach. We find that the leading power in the $1/p_T$ expansion is responsible for high $p_T$ regime, while the next-to-leading power contribution is necessary for the low $p_T$ region. We present the first numerical analysis of the scale evolution of coupled twist-2 and twist-4 fragmentation functions (FFs) for heavy quarkonium production and demonstrate that the QCD factorization approach is capable of describing the $p_T$ spectrum of hadronic $J/\psi$ production at the LHC.

• A general-mass scheme for prompt charm production at hadron colliders

  In these proceedings, we apply the recently developed S-ACOT-MPS factorization scheme at the next-to-leading order to prompt charm production at hadron colliders. It provides a good agreement with experimental data on charm meson production measured by LHCb at 7 and 13 TeV. The low-$p_T$ data are on the margins of the theoretical error bands, emphasizing the importance of including contributions beyond the next-to-leading order.

• Determination of the rapidity evolution kernel from Drell-Yan data at low transverse momenta

  We report recent results on the extraction of the rapidity evolution kernel for Sudakov processes from experimental measurements of Drell-Yan (DY) transverse momentum distributions. We discuss the role of high-precision Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data, and illustrate the interplay of this analysis with transverse momentum dependent and collinear parton density functions.

• High-energy resummation in inclusive hadroproduction of Higgs plus jet

  Using the standard Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) approach, with partial inclusion of next-to-leading order effects, we propose the inclusive hadroproduction of a Higgs boson and of a jet, featuring large transverse momenta and well separated in rapidity, as a new channel to probe the BFKL dynamics. Predictions are presented for cross-sections and azimuthal angle correlations in different kinematics configurations for the final-state transverse momenta. We find that the large energy scales provided by the emission of a Higgs boson stabilize the BFKL series.

• The MSHT20 Parton Distribution Functions

  We present the new MSHT20 set of parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton, determined from a global analysis of the available hard scattering data and superseding the MMHT14 sets. The parameterisation is now adapted and extended and we include a large number of new data sets: the final HERA and Tevatron data, and a significant number of LHC data sets on vector boson production, inclusive jets and top quark distributions. We include up to NNLO QCD corrections for all data sets that play a major role in the fit. There are some changes to central PDF values and a significant reduction in the uncertainties, but the PDFs and the predictions using them are generally within one standard deviation of the MMHT14 results. We discuss the phenomenological impact of our results.
