• Multi-particle production in proton-nucleus collisions in the Color Glass Condensate

  We compute multi-gluon production in the Color Glass Condensate approach in dilute-dense collisions, p$A$. We include the contributions that are leading in the overlap area of the collision but keep all orders in the expansion in the number of colors. We use a form of the Lipatov vertices that leads to the Wigner function approach for the projectile previously employed, that we generalise to take into account quantum correlations in the projectile wave function. We compute four gluon correlations and we find that the second order four particle cumulant is negative, so a sensible second Fourier azimuthal coefficient can be defined.

  Deuteron breakup reactions are basic laboratories for testing nuclear force models. Recent improvements in the data analysis allow for direct identification of neutrons in the BINA detection setup. This opens up the opportunity to study new aspects of few-nucleon system dynamics like charge dependence of nuclear force or Coulomb interaction. In this paper we determine regions along the kinematical curves where differential cross section of deuteron-proton breakup reactions can be measured by the proton-neutron and proton-proton coincidences simultaneously. This is particularly useful for validation of the neutron detection technique.

• The open XYZ spin 1/2 chain: Separation of variables and scalar products for boundary fields related by a constraint

  We consider the open XYZ spin chain with boundary fields. We solve the model by the new Separation of Variables approach introduced in [J. M. Maillet and G. Niccoli, J. Stat. Mech.: Theory Exp. 094020 (2019)]. In this framework, the transfer matrix eigenstates are obtained as a particular sub-class of the class of so-called separate states. We consider the problem of computing scalar products of such separate states. As usual, they can be represented as determinants with rows labelled by the inhomogeneity parameters of the model. We notably focus on the special case in which the boundary parameters parametrising the two boundary fields satisfy one constraint, hence enabling for the description of part of the transfer matrix spectrum and eigenstates in terms of some elliptic polynomial $Q$-solution of a usual $TQ$-equation. In this case, we show how to transform the aforementioned determinant for the scalar product into some more convenient form for the consideration of the homogeneous and thermodynamic limits: as in the open XXX or XXZ cases, our result can be expressed as some generalisation of the so-called Slavnov determinant.

• THz higher-order topological photonics in Ge-on-Si heterostructures

  We design germanium-based higher-order topological cavities for terahertz applications by breaking the symmetry of a two-dimensional photonic crystal following the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. Calculations demonstrate the parity inversion of the electric field in differently deformed unit cells. The interface between domains of opposite topology presents edge and corner modes. The former are chiral, locking light propagation to its helicity. The latter prove that Ge-based structures can be used as high-order topological photonic crystals. These findings can accelerate the development of Si-photonic components working in a spectral range of high technological interest.

• Proton reconstruction with the Precision Proton Spectrometer (PPS) in Run 2 and the PPS at HL-LHC

  The Precision Proton Spectrometer (PPS) started operating in 2016 and has collected more than 110 fb$^{-1}$ of data over the course of the LHC Run 2, now fully available for physics analysis. This contribution covers the key features of the PPS alignment and optics calibration, which have been developed from scratch. The reconstructed proton distributions, the performance of the PPS simulation and finally the validation of the full reconstruction chain with physics data (dilepton events) are also illustrated.

• Exact physical quantities of a competing spin chain in the thermodynamic limit

  We study the exact physical quantities of a competing spin chain which contains many interesting and meaningful couplings including the nearest neighbor, next nearest neighbor, chiral three spins, Dzyloshinsky-Moriya interactions and unparallel boundary magnetic fields in the thermodynamic limit. We obtain the density of zero roots, surface energies and elementary excitations in different regimes of model parameters. Due to the competition of various interactions, the surface energy and excited spectrum show many different pictures from those of the Heisenberg spin chain.

• Investigation of the background in coherent $J/\psi$ production at the EIC

  Understanding fundamental properties of nucleons and nuclei are among the most important scientific goals of the next-generation machine, the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). With the unprecedented versatility provided by the EIC, it will provide answers to many standing puzzles and open questions in modern nuclear physics. One of the golden measurements at the EIC is coherent vector meson production in electron-nucleus (eA) scattering in order to obtain the spatial gluon density distribution in heavy nuclei. This requires the experiment to overcome an overwhelmingly large background arising from the incoherent diffractive production, where the nucleus mostly breaks up into fragments of particles in the far-forward direction close to the hadron beam rapidity. In this talk, we systematically study the rejection of incoherent $J/\psi$ production by vetoing products from the nuclear breakup - protons, neutrons, and photons, which is modeled with the BeAGLE event generator and the most up-to-date EIC Far-forward Interaction Region design.

• Athermal creep deformation of ultrastable amorphous solids

  We numerically investigate the athermal creep deformation of amorphous materials having a wide range of stability. The imposed shear stress serves as the control parameter, allowing us to examine the time-dependent transient response through both the macroscopic strain and microscopic observables. Least stable samples exhibit monotonicity in the transient strain rate versus time, while more stable samples display a pronounced non-monotonic S-shaped curve, corresponding to failure by sharp shear band formation. We identify a diverging timescale associated with the fluidization process and extract the corresponding critical exponents. Our results are compared with predictions from existing scaling theories relevant to soft matter systems. The numerical findings for stable, brittle-like materials represent a challenge for theoretical descriptions. We monitor the microscopic initiation of shear bands during creep responses. Our study encompasses creep deformation across a variety of materials ranging from ductile soft matter to brittle metallic and oxide glasses, all within the same numerical framework.

• Search for upward-going air showers with the fluorescence detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory

  The fluorescence detector (FD) of the Pierre Auger Observatory is sensitive to upward-going air showers for energies above $10^{17}$ eV. Given its operation time and wide field of view, the FD has the potential to support or constrain the recent "anomalous" observations by the ANITA detector, interpreted as upward-going air showers of unexplained nature. We have used 14 years of data collected by the FD to search for upward-going showers using a set of quality selection criteria defined using 10% of the full data sample. To distinguish candidates from false positives, calculate the exposure and obtain the expected background, dedicated simulations for signal (upward-going events) and background (downward-going events) have been performed. Results of the analysis after unblinding the data set are presented. Finally, the exposure and sensitivity for the specific scenario of a signal being ascribed to tau lepton decay are calculated and the corresponding upper limits are shown as a function of primary energy and in different zenith angle ranges.
